Rhino, Elephant & Cat Interaction

Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, what do they have in common? First, they are incredible animals, but even more so: the opportunity to interact and play with these animals are far and very few in between. This trip is a favourite among our clients!

What to Expect

This is a full day trip comprised of three stops near each other:

A fair bit of traveling is involved to & from our destination, so an early morning is required. After a hot breakfast at Berchtesgaden, we will leave for our first stop, which should take around 2-hours.

Our first visit is to one of Africa’s favourite children, the Rhino. This stop is not usually open to the public but with special permission we are allowed to take our clients to this Rhino Sanctuary. Rhinos are heavily poached animals due to the extremely high value of their horns in the black market. Therefore, several of these sanctuaries exist in Africa, most of which are not made public or advertised at all – like this one. Visiting this location is a great adventure as you get to be up close and personal with them.

After our morning with the Rhino’s, we go up the road to a well-known Elephant interaction establishment. These folks do it right! The Elephants you interact with are all rescued from culling (the reason for their culling ranges) and now live a happy and free life on a large reserve. The interactions begin with an informational session where the guides tell us a bit about their lives, Elephant live in general, highlight the Elephant’s intelligence with various actions and memory games and ample photo opportunities! After this session, you get to ride the Elephants in the African bush from the main reception area to the dam. Here, both you and the Elephants get in the water and have a little fun. You will have the opportunity to wash, brush, splash and even be sung by the tusks in the water. This really is an exciting experience.

After our fun time in the water, clean, hot showers and towels are available for you at reception. We will also have something to eat and some coffee or beer.

From here, we move on a Cheetah sanctuary. The manager at this establishment is completely in love with her job and it shows. Cheetahs are magnificent cats, and your time here will be a moment to remember.

Something to note: Because this trip involves some driving, many of our clients prefer to do it on the first or last day of their Safari. These destinations require only a small detour enroute between OR Tambo & Berchtesgaden which means the driving is only one way and a return drive is not required.
